The End of an Era for You Got This

As the director of You Got This, I'm writing to share some significant news about the future of the project. After careful consideration and due to the challenges of securing sponsorships in 2024, we've made the difficult decision to bring You Got This to a close. This also means that You Got This 2025 is cancelled due to lacking sponsorship and increased running costs.

While this announcement may come as a disappointment to many, I want to emphasize that I'm not approaching this moment with sadness, but with pride. Over the years, we've built an incredible content library of more than 150 pieces focused on core skills. This wealth of knowledge remains an invaluable resource, and its impact will continue long after our final event on December 11 2024.

Since our first event in 2019, You Got This has hosted 33 events (34 after December’s event). Each one has contributed to our goal of highlighting the importance of core skills in the tech industry and beyond. While our active run is coming to an end, I believe we've succeeded in bringing these crucial skills to the forefront of more people's minds and will ensure that the resources continue to be available in future. Although You Got This is concluding, the need for focus on core skills in our industry remains. Our project's existence and the conversations it has sparked have added weight to this argument. I encourage our community to continue advocating for and developing these essential skills in their personal and professional lives.

I would be remiss if I didn't acknowledge the incredible team that made You Got This possible over the years.

Thanks to the organizers who have joined for one or more events over the years: Benjamin Reitzammer, Joanna Moćko-Łazarewicz, Joe Nash, Katie Whittington, Kimberley Cook, Maisie Bell, Markela Zeneli, Matthew Revell, Nathaniel Okenwa, Shy Ruperal, Sunil Patel, and Wilson Tolentino da Silva.

To everyone who has been part of the You Got This community – whether you've attended one event or dozens, whether you've spoken on our stage or shared our content – thank you. Also thank you to all of our past sponsors and the individuals who advocated for us to secure sponsorship.

And remember - you got this!
